W.H.Auden - A Small description

Wystan Hugh Auden was an Angelo-American poet, playwright and literary critic. He was a socialist or a hard communist who showed some cool ironic wit in his poetry. However , deeply religious and psychological. Many critics consider Auden as a master of verse. His intellectual vigor and social conscience combined with his poetry. Auden was born in York in 1907 as a son of a physician.

He was graduated from the University of Oxford and after that he worked as a teacher in Scotland and England for five years.

His earlier poems mostly focused on the breakdown of English capitalist society but also showed a deep concern with psychological problems.He was awarded the King's Gold Medal for poetry in 1938.

Later in 1939 , he moved to he United States and settled down there as a citizen. There, he wrote more poems such as "Double man","Age of anxiety" etc. in 1948, Auden was awarded with Pulitzer Prize.
